Community Service

Service to our community is a core Yale tradition, flourishing among students and generations of alumni. For decades, the Yale Club of Washington, D.C. has maintained a robust community service program, supporting individuals and nonprofit organizations in the greater Washington metropolitan area. These activities include volunteer opportunities, a summer fellowship program, and a variety of collaborations with local nonprofit organizations.

Monthly Opportunities for Service

The Club regularly shares monthly community service activities for Yale alumni, their families and friends to participate in. Check our Events page, or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming service opportunities!

Yale Day of Service

alt

Launched in 2009, the global Yale Day of Service is a chance for alumni around the world to join forces on one day to celebrate Yale’s tradition of service. On the Yale Day of Service, which takes place every May, alumni and their families and friends work side by side to support their communities, volunteering at a variety of service sites.

The Yale Day of Service is a wonderful way for members of the Yale community to meet and reconnect with alumni who share this commitment to giving back.  And for many alumni, the program provides the opportunity to share this value with their children (and grandchildren) through example -- and fun! -- as they work together on projects where they live.
