ViMaDeAn Duo will present a concert program, a big part of which is closely related to the theme of environmental issues, which is ever crucial these days. The artists’ main goal is to uplift peoples' spirits through their music, so this will surely be an evening to remember!
About the Performers
Anastasia Petrunina / violin
Anastasia Petrunina has been heard around the globe playing in such prestigious halls as Carnegie Hall, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory as well as extensively touring Russia, United States, Brazil, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and China. As a soloist she has appeared with the Novaya Rossiya Symphony Orchestra, Saint Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra and others. As a guest concertmaster Anastasia led Saratov, Xian and Guiyang symphony orchestras among others. She also took part in recording music for the Olympics 2014 in Sochi, Russia. Ms. Petrunina’s interests cover a wide repertoire from early music to contemporary pieces. She has commissioned several works which take a special place in her concert repertoire. Ms. Petrunina earned her Master of Music degree at the Yale University School of Music. She also holds degrees from the Moscow Conservatory Music College and Petropavlovsk – Kamchatskiy Regional Music College. Currently Anastasia is pursuing her DMA degree at the University of Georgia under the guidance of Professor Levon Ambartsumian. Anastasia is a concertmaster of the Augusta Symphony and violinist with the Atlanta Opera.
Denis Petrunin / percussion
Coming from Moscow, Russia, Denis has been playing music since the age of five. He started his education at The Gnessins School of Music (guided by his father, George Petrunin), received his Bachelor degree from The Curtis Institute of Music under the guidance of Don Liuzzi and Michael Bookspan, completed his Artist Diploma and Master of Music degree at the Yale University School of Music under the instruction of Prof. Robert van Sice. Being an Adams artist and a member of the Vic Firth Educational Team, Mr. Petrunin is frequently invited to teach masterclasses in different cities throughout the world. His performances have been broadcast on WHYY radio (Philadelphia, PA). His awards include the Avedis Zildjian Percussion Scholarship, PASIC 2009 Chamber Competition Winner (as a part of the Yale Percussion Group), and the Spivakov Foundation Scholarship. Mr. Petrunin has appeared as a soloist with the Gnessins Virtuosos Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, “The Seasons” Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and the Curtis Chamber Ensemble. Currently, Mr. Petrunin is a principal timpanist of the Augusta Symphony.
