Wednesday, January 13, 2021

6:30-7:30pm

This meeting will be conducted on Zoom

Instructions will be provided upon registration

The Yale Club of Washington, D.C. invites all Yale alumni to a private virtual discussion featuring former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jessie K. Liu YLS '98 and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Kravis YLS '04.

According to the Department of Justice itself, its mission is: "To enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans." In this follow-up to their program last fall on the rule of law, Jessie K. Liu YLS '98 and Jonathan Kravis YLS '04 discuss the opportunities and challenges for the Department as it seeks to fulfill this mission in 2021 and beyond. What changes, if any, should the Department make to its policies and procedures to further its duty to seek justice for all? How will the Department handle calls to investigate the activities of the Trump Administration? And what will be the impact on the Department of public opinion, politics, and the press?

Please Note: This event will not be recorded, so we strongly encourage registering and attending.
