Alumni Sports Teams

Yale alumni in the Washington, D.C. area participate in several team sports leagues as part of the Capital Alumni Network (CAN).  Co-ed teams include soccer, softball, basketball, flag football, and volleyball.  We encourage alumni to join and play, or at least come cheer us on as we take on alumni squads from over 70 other colleges!

To comply with league rules, all teams must be made up of no less than 75% alumni, and no more than one former varsity player at a time.

 Spring Season - 11 v. 11 Soccer

The Soccer season runs from March to June.  Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays at McKinley Technical High School.  Playoffs take place over two weekends in June.

Summer Season - 10 v. 10 Slow-pitch Softball

The Softball season runs from April to August.  Games are played on weekend evenings on the National Mall or the Ellipse.  The CAN Softball Playoff Tournament is the cornerstone of the entire CAN year.  IT takes place over two weekends in August at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Softball Complex.

Fall Season - 8 vs. 8 Flag Football

The Flag Football season runs from September through December.  Games are played on Saturday and Sunday mornings at Anacostia National Park.  The CAN Flag Football Playoff Tournament takes place over two weekends in December at Anacostia National Park.

Winter Season - 5 vs. 5 Basketball

The Basketball season runs from January to March.  Games are played on weeknights at Alexandria Public School Gymnasiums.  Playoffs take place over two weeks in March.  For more information, contact co-captains Shannon O'Pray '04 and Tony Cotto '03.

Winter Season - 6 v. 6 Volleyball
