1308 freshmen were selected from a record-high applicant pool of 26,003. Only 7.5% of applicants were admitted - a new record -surpassing last year's record of 8.6%. International students from 38 countries comprise 8.8% of the entering class, and among the U.S. students, 34.8% identify themselves as members of minority groups. Of the new students, 57% came from public high schools, while 43% came from independent, parochial, and other schools.
